Halloween and Marketing

We just love Halloween. And I usually end up taking lots of pictures of my kids. Well, this year I ended up taking lots of pictures of OTHER people's kids at the Fall Festival in my neighborhood.

I setup a black backdrop on the back of the Pacifica, setup two speedlights, and had lots of takers for a free picture download.

The pictures came out great. You can check em' all out in the Community Gallery. Here's my favorite of the bunch.

Hiking Blowing Rock, part 1

On a freakishly warm January day in Blowing Rock, NC, I took my wife, two young kids and my in-laws to the beautiful town of Blowing Rock. My main objective for the day was to hike the Glen Burney Falls trail, and begin my collection of waterfall pictures with my Canon A620 and tripod.

After some false starts, we found the trail-head at the Annie Cannon Memorial Park's parking lot. The trail is smooth and easy, though those who aren't in shape may need to rest on some of the steeper parts of the trail.

While the day was great, filled with nice meals, fun in the town's playground, shopping and great ice cream, the hiking was a bit abbreviated. The family wasn't up to the full hike, so we made it
just under a mile, which didn't get us to the main attraction. But, it did get us on a nice trail, and I did manage to get a few pictures of the creek along the way. While not the capture I had in mind when we set out, still an opportunity to get out with the family for a fun afternoon.

Here's one of the pic's I took along the way. As Arnold said..."I'll be back".. for the real Glen Burney Falls soon enough!
